Congratulations to all who endorsed the motion to call on the NYC Central Labor Council to build a mass march on Wall Street and to all those that came out, despite the rain and weather, to leaflet for this motion at the CLC meeting.
In case you haven’t heard, delegates to the New York Central Labor Council (umbrella organization of unions in New York City) voted unanimously Wednesday, October 19, in support of their Executive Board organizing a Mass March on Wall Street, November 5, with the following slogans and demands:
Working People Shouldn’t Pay for a Crisis That They Didn’t Make!
No to Layoffs, Budget and Service Cuts!
Create Jobs, Build Infrastructure with a Federal Program of Public Works!
Stop Police Harassment of the Wall Street Occupation!
But the power to act on the delegates’ vote is now in the hands of the CLC’s Executive Board, which is made up of the city’s local union presidents. So it’s crucial that we advance the organization and mobilization of workers to make sure the union leaders don't back out.
If you haven't signed the lists of endorsements or know people who haven't, get them to email to sign on – or look for us at the occupation to sign on.
We must still work hard to mobilize and organize for the biggest possible turnout by continuing to raise motions to support the march and by keeping the pressure on the unions however possible, including publicizing this as widely as possible.
